The Bear Battalion, Missouri State Army ROTC The Battalion is hosted by Missouri State University, where it was founded in 1952 as the Department of Military Science and Leadership.

The Bear Battalion ROTC is comprised of Cadets from Missouri State University, Evangel, Southwest Baptist University, Drury and Ozarks Technical Community College. The Missouri State University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Bear Battalion is the foremost leadership development program in the Ozarks and Southern Missouri. We live the Army Values:

The Bear Battalion is comprised of students from Missouri State University, Evangel University, Southern Baptist University, Drury University and Ozarks Technical Community College. MSU ROTC has a long and proud tradition of producing leaders of character for the nation. 15 graduates have reached the rank of Brigadier General or higher. Students at any of the participating universities listed above can enroll in military science classes during their Freshman and Sophomore years without committing to military service. Prior to the beginning of their Junior year, those students wishing to compete for a contracted slot in the program may do so. If selected to continue with ROTC advanced courses, students will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation and successful completion of all ROTC program requirements.

MEET 2LT WILSON

🇺🇸 National Guard: Enlisted December 2022

Her journey started with a search for purpose.

2LT Wilson enlisted in the National Guard while continuing to pursue her civilian career — a decision that eventually became part of her journey toward commissioning as an officer.

THE ROAD TO COMMISSIONING

The road to becoming an Army Officer wasn’t always easy.

Through injuries, setbacks, and challenges, 2LT Wilson continued moving forward.

Her mindset when things got difficult?

“Take it one day at a time and trust the process.”

23 months ago, 2LT Wilson fell more than 30 feet, breaking her back.

What could have ended her journey became part of her story.

CDT Carter just graduated Airborne School after crushing Cadet Summer Training, and now she’s JUMPING into her senior year strong and ready. 🪂
This summer, she also built amazing friends and mentors, but that connection really shined in Airborne School. 🪂
