Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services

Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services We work together to help Illinoisans access high quality health care. HFS was formerly the Illinois Department of Public Aid.

Our Mission: We work together to help Illinoisans access high quality health care and fulfill child support obligations to advance their physical, mental, and financial well-being. The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) is responsible for providing healthcare coverage for adults and children who qualify for Medicaid, and for providing child support services to help ensure

that Illinois children receive financial support from both parents. The agency is organized into two major divisions, Medical Programs and Child Support Services. In addition, the Office of Inspector General is maintained within the agency but functions as a separate, independent entity reporting directly to the Governor's Office. PRIVACY POLICY: The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) acknowledges that social media plays an important role in the lives of the community, its clients, and employees. HFS will maintain official social media sites to support the department in accomplishing its mission and vision, achieving its goals and objectives, and advancing its values. HFS encourages feedback and comments from followers, which include clients, employees, members of the community, and other agencies. We remain committed to maintaining these sites as a safe and family-friendly forum for sharing information. In the spirit of maintaining a positive environment to our site visitors, HFS reserves the right to remove any comments or wall postings from official HFS-sponsored pages that are inappropriate, inflammatory, or damaging to HFS or any individual.
