America's Boating Club - Land of Lincoln Sail & Power Squadron

Land of Lincoln Power Squadron (LOLPS) is one of 18 squadrons located in District 20 of the United States Power Squadrons.

"America's Boating Club"

The United States Power Squadrons (USPS) is a non-profit,educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable by offering classes in seamanship, navigation, and related topics. USPS has some 40,000 members organized into 33 districts and over 400 squadrons across the country and in several US territories. Land of Lincoln Power Squadron (LOLPS) is

one of 18 squadrons located in District 20 of USPS. District 20 has squadrons in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana and serves as the informational conduit between the national organization (USPS) and its squadrons. LOLPS serves Sprinfield, IL and the surrounding communities. It became a charter member of USPS in November of 1971. Each squadrons activities involve the 3 primary objectives of USPS: community service, continuing education, and enjoying the friendship and camaraderie of our fellow members.

All of these blunders are covered in a Basic Boating safety class. With that said though, sometimes a momentary lapse in attention can lead to what one could call "bad judgement".
Maintain a proper lookout using all available means at ALL times. The leading cause of accidents is failing to do so.

Midweek fun can be had each Wednesday at the Rumble Around the Lake events held at lake clubs and locations around Lake Springfield. Grab your biker, or biker-curious, friends and come on out! Two wheels or four.... all are welcome to enjoy live music, activities, and social events. Register each week for prizes. Special drawings are held for those who come by boat. Ride in, Drive in or Float In. Check the Council of Lake Springfield Clubs FB page for each week's location. https://www.facebook.com/LakeSpfldClubs Most weeks, the party starts at 5:00 PM and runs to 9:00 PM.
Join us this Wednesday, May 15th, at the Knights of Columbus Club (KC Lake Club) 141 Lakewood Drive in Chatham - featuring the music of Jeff Young and the Bad Grandpas.

The annual Blessing of the Boats at the Springfield Elks Club - Lodge 158 is on Saturday May 25, 2024.
We'll have club members available to do vessel safety checks and handing out boater education materials.

My weekly post for Wednesday night fun... Bingo at the Prop Club. Food is available - pizza, hot dogs, brats, chicken strips, fries. Bar is open as well. Multiple games will be played with special games at the start, middle and end of the night. Last game prize is $150 to the winner.
