The dynamics of a full spectrum combat environment demands that Soldiers have the courage, confidence, and competence to implement controlled aggression to use the minimum amount of force to control the situation. A successful Combatives training program will empower Soldiers with the ability to conquer fear and anger, allowing for controlled actions and enhanced situational awareness.

Major Doug Zembiec (RIP); La Cueva High School in New Mexico/US Marine Corps

Doug Zembiec aka the "Lion of Fallujah” was a former 🔨 wrestler who was killed in action while serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007. He was an officer in the United States Marine Corps and member of the CIA's Special Activities Division's Ground Branch. In his time in the service, he was awarded; the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device and the Purple Heart (2X)!

Prior to enlisting in the US Marine Corps, Doug was a 2X New Mexico HS State Wrestling Champion for La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1990 and 1991. He was undefeated his senior season. He attended the United States Naval Academywhere he was a member of 23rd Company, and a collegiate wrestler compiling a 95–21–1 record and finishing as a two-time NCAA All-American. His teammates nicknamed him "The Snake" for his anaconda-like grip.

Why haven't you started training combatives?

Some of the excuses we hear most often is:
"Im too busy",
"I'm not fit enough",
"I don't need it",
"It's too expensive".

Stop for a moment and challenge your conclusions.

You chose this warrior profession. As outlined in the Level 1 Warrior Task Manual (071-000-006), it is your duty to be capable of exacting controlled violence. The day duty calls will choose you, you will not choose it. Your enemy will not wait for your physical readiness to improve.

You will make time for what is important to you. I set aside time for God, family, my small business, my full-time job, and Combatives. You must prioritize your tasks, daily. Soon it all becomes a habit. What are some habits you have now that can be replaced with something more important?

Just as we prioritize time, we also prioritize finances. If you're lucky, you can find a group near you that offers training for free. But if paid memberships are the only thing you can find, can you make it work? Discounts, price comparisons, and budgeting will be your friend.

If you don't know how/where to start, DM us. We have helped many Soldiers connect with reputable training organizations near them. If you need extra convincing, DM us or come by a Combatives course. We will encourage you to get started now!

Congratulations to SGT Regalado for completing the Combatives Master Trainer Course and achieving Honor Grad!

An MP and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, SGT Regalado came through our BCC class in 2021 when he was in the 33rd MP BN. He has since accepted an AGR position in Alaska and is growing a successful combatives program there!

Congrats to CPL Muyumba of the 404th MEB for achieving Honor Grad! Her technical expertise during the live grappling events and the React to Contact Drill took us all by surprise, given her quiet and humble demeanor. A quiet professional. CPL Muyumba received a coin from COL Nokes, commander of the 129th Regiment. Good job!
