Gloria Steinem was a writer, political activist, and an American feminist icon. Her involvement in the women's movements of the 60s and 70s cemented her legacy as a champion for women's rights and equality. Her humble beginnings as a Toledo, Ohio native helped shape her view of the world and fanned her desire to change a woman's role in the world.

She went on to help co-found the first all-woman led and funded magazine in 1972. From there she became a standout figure in the second wave feminist movement and helped bridge the gap between other prominent social movements at the time; intersectionality before the phrase was coined.

The work we do at Project Woman has been made possible by the groundwork laid by advocates of change such as Gloria Steinem. Today we mourn and honor the life and legacy of Ms. Steinem.

Community in Action! 🤝💙
Huge thanks to the incredible teams at Sleep in Heavenly, Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio, & Ohio Hope Builders for partnering with Project Woman!💜💜

Together, we tackled a massive effort to consolidate two of our storage units down to one, making space and streamlining our operations. Even better, through this collaboration, we were able to pass along extra refrigerators and office furniture directly to Ohio Hope Builders to support their mission in the community.

It’s amazing what can happen when local organizations team up to support one another. Thank you to everyone who showed up, rolled up their sleeves, and did the heavy lifting to make this happen! 📦✨ Special thank you to Skip Warner for making this connection happen ❤️

Looking to make a direct impact in your community? Project Woman is hiring a Shelter Advocate to provide trauma-informed support, safety planning, and crisis line coverage for survivors residing in our emergency shelter.

The Details:
💰 Pay: $16.50/hr. ($17.00/hr. after 90 days)
⏰ Hours: Full-Time (40 hrs./wk.) | 1st, 2nd, & 3rd shifts available
📍 Location: Secure Shelter Setting (On-Site)
✨ Perks: Health, dental, & vision options, paid professional development, and support obtaining Registered Advocate (RA) licensing!

What You’ll Do:

Provide direct survivor support, safety planning, and daily living assistance.

Deliver crisis intervention via our 24/7 Crisis Line and support shelter intakes/exits.

Foster a safe, communal living environment for adult and child survivors.

What We’re Looking For:

Associate degree in human services OR equivalent work/lived experience.

Background or strong interest in crisis intervention and survivor support (shelter experience preferred).

Strong boundaries, empathy, and the ability to stay calm in crisis situations.
