Business & Industry Federation of Economic Concern BIFEC does not publicly advocate any specific position or policy. It is a true coalition.

The term "BIFEC" was first used in April 1975 to promote a major statehouse gathering: The Businessmen's March on Springfield (IL). The march organized by David Sykuta and Quentin Lambert, advocated concern and changes in Illinois Worker's Compensation and Unemployment Compensation Law. Thereafter, BIFEC evolved as a coalition of groups concerned about the anti-business legislation. William Dart,

who succeeded Quentin Lambert at IMA, proposed a more formalized BIFEC structure that established weekly meetings during legislative sessions.
