We had the opportunity to attend the Massachusetts Civics Project Showcase at the MassMutual Center alongside community leaders from across the Commonwealth. Students presented thoughtful projects focused on real issues impacting their schools and neighborhoods.

Springfield students lead conversations on school engagement and littering at South End Middle School, cleaner and greener communities at Springfield Middle School, transportation access at Public Day High School, and student safety at Springfield Renaissance School.

These young leaders demonstrated research, collaboration, and a true commitment to civic engagement and community change.

Thank you to DESE, Generation Citizen, our educators, families, and especially the students for making your voices heard.

I had the honor of serving alongside the Honorable Benjamin Swan, a dedicated community activist and a true civil rights leader, whose relentless efforts opened doors for many individuals who today hold positions that were once denied to us. His legacy continues to inspire and empower our community.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free.
As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also take a moment to remember and thank those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
I am forever grateful to our fallen heroes and to the military families who carry their legacy with strength and pride. 🇺🇸
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
