Today, we join the nation in remembrance of those law enforcement officers that gave their lives in the line of duty.

Since 1962, May 15 has been Peace Officers Memorial Day, a day set aside to honor these men and women.

Behind every badge is a person who chose a profession knowing the risk — and chose it anyway.

Today we remember them. We remember every officer in this state and this nation who didn't make it home. And we think about the families they left behind, who are the quiet heroes in all of this
