The City of Springfield is asking for community feedback on recent traffic calming improvements on West D Street, Mill Street, and Daisy Street. These projects include features like speed cushions, raised crosswalks, and other safety upgrades designed to improve travel for people walking, biking, and driving.

Your feedback will help City traffic engineers and Springfield City Council evaluate how these improvements are working and guide future street safety projects across Springfield. Each anonymous survey takes about five minutes to complete. Help shape safer streets for everyone!

See the comments for the link to the survey.

As Building Safety Month comes to a close, we want to thank our community for helping recognize the importance of safe, resilient, and accessible buildings in Springfield.

This final week, Communities Without Limits, highlights the importance of accessibility in building design and construction so spaces can be safer and more welcoming for everyone.

Building safety plays an important role in protecting people, supporting resilient communities, and helping projects succeed. Behind every permit review, inspection, and code update are staff working to help keep Springfield safe. Whether you’re building a new home, remodeling a business, or planning a future project, Springfield’s building safety staff are here to answer questions, provide guidance, and help projects move forward safely and successfully. Today, our community came together to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Springfield’s 77th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony, and to the many partners, volunteers, and community members who helped make this meaningful tribute possible.

We extend special appreciation to Mayor Sean VanGordon - Springfield, OR for his continued leadership and to The American Legion Post #40 for their longstanding dedication to honoring and remembering those who served.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect together, recognize the sacrifices made on behalf of our nation, and carry forward the spirit of remembrance and service that defines Memorial Day.

Another great day at our Public Works Week Carnival and Equipment Rodeo as we celebrate National Public Works Week!

Over the course of this two-day event, we welcomed more than 500 third-grade students from Springfield Public Schools - OR to learn about the many ways Development and Public Works shapes our community every day.

Students played interactive games, watched demonstrations, and talked with staff about careers in engineering, operations, environmental services, planning, maintenance, and more. Alongside our public works operations team, Springfield Utility Board (SUB), and Sanipac joined the equipment rodeo and helped students learn more about the essential services and equipment that support our community every day.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s problem-solvers, builders, operators, and community leaders, and events like this help connect them with the work happening all around them every day.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, SUB, Sanipac, and our school partners for helping make this event possible!
