The Illinois Teaching Excellence Program is transitioning from the National Board Resource Center at Illinois State University to ISBE. Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, ISBE will assume full responsibility for managing the Illinois Teaching Excellence Program. ISBE and NBRC are working collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition with uninterrupted services. Support for educators pursuing or maintaining National Board Certification will continue, including mentoring, professional learning opportunities, and financial incentives for eligible educators.

The FY 2027 Truants’ Alternative and Optional Education Program (TAOEP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) application is now available to eligible applicants, including public school districts, Regional Offices of Education, community college districts, public university laboratory schools approved by ISBE, state-authorized charter schools, and area vocational centers. https://okt.to/MoGfzv

This competitive grant helps ensure that targeted students have equitable access to education by creating modified instructional programming, planning for truancy prevention and intervention services, and offering part-time or full-time options to regular school attendance. The deadline to submit a TAOEP NOFO application is June 29 at 4 p.m.

The school year 2026-27 School Nutrition Programs application is now available in the Web-Based Illinois Nutrition System (WINS). This application is an annual requirement for all sponsors to participate in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, After School Snack Program, Special Milk Program, and Illinois Free Lunch and Breakfast. Sponsors participating in the Community Eligibility Provision must complete this application to finalize participation plans in the meal programs for the upcoming school year.
