It’s National Dam Safety Awareness Day! (and yes, we’re dam proud of the work our teams do every day.)

City Utilities owns and maintains dams that help protect and support our community’s water supply. Our teams regularly inspect, monitor and maintain these facilities to help keep them operating safely and reliably.

Behind every safe dam is a team working year-round to protect one of our most important resources — water.

Ever wonder what the inside of a power turbine looks like? 👀

At JTEC, one of our turbines was recently taken apart for regular maintenance. Every 5–10 years, crews inspect and repair many of the turbine’s parts to help keep power reliable for our community.

During this work, crews put in 60-hour weeks until the project is finished. It’s a rare chance to see inside one of the machines that helps power Springfield.
