The Art Show's Westcott House special produced by CET/ThinkTV has been selected as a 58th Public Media Award Honoree by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA)! The Art Show team has been recognized in the Visual Arts Content category. You can watch this very special episode here: https://www.pbs.org/video/the-art-show-season-15-episode-8-oxvbb7/

Winners will be announced on Sunday, September 13 at the NETA Conference in New Orleans. The PMAs honor the best of our members' work in Community Engagement, Content, Education, and Marketing & Communications.

A note from the Art Show producers:
"The Art Show is CET/ThinkTV’s weekly magazine-style program exploring arts and culture throughout Southwest Ohio and beyond. Episodes this past season have typically consisted of two locally produced segments, alongside a third segment from our regional PBS partners in Ohio. However, seeing so many stories contained within this Wright home, we opted to give voice to them via a dedicated special where past meets present. We ultimately challenged our normal process by producing three stories – one on the house’s history and enduring legacy, and two on regional artists who have found inspiration within the house for their own work. The house essentially served as a unifying theme, but still gave us the flexibility to explore varying topics and artistic media – architectural restoration, kiln-based ceramics, and panoramic film photography are just a few examples.

We likewise had the chance to partner with the Westcott House on a screening of the episode at Springfield’s historic State Theater, followed by a Q&A with our show host and series producer. Getting to see our made-for-television work on the big screen was excitement enough, but we also enjoyed a near-full room of individuals invested in the Westcott House and the Springfield community, and interested in the work we do at our stations."

Congratulations to CET/ThinkTV Producers Nadya Ellerhorst and Rodney Veal, and the entire PBS production crew! We are so grateful to the artists Naysan McIlhargey, Tom Schiff, Vicki Rulli and Tom Heaphey for making this episode so special! And thank you to 115 guests who joined us for a special screening at the State Theater earlier this year. We appreciate you all!!!!!

On this day in 2019, the Frederick C. Robie House was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as part of The 20th-Century Architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright. It was recognized for how Wright invented a new way of experiencing space, tearing down the walls between rooms so that light, air, and people could pass through. The Westcott House shares those same ideas: interior spaces flow freely from room to room, keeping loved ones connected even while moving through different parts of the home.

Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy led the 15-year effort to secure a place for Wright’s buildings on the World Heritage list, and continues to lead the work of protecting them all. The ideas about how to design and live that are embodied in Wright’s buildings must be experienced to be understood, and they must be preserved to be experienced.
