I’m sure as many of you have heard, I was not elected branch president. I wish our future president the best of luck moving forward. To say that I appreciate the 68 of you that did is an understatement and will not be forgotten. I do ask for anyone seeing this that did not vote, I emplore you to exercise your right as a member in good standing to do so in the future. The amount of members we have in our branch can be the deciding factor of every position in our branch and local. Every member has a voice and voting is the way to do so. Again thank you to every person who supported me and I wish you a happy and healthy holidays!

Vote Matthew Bergstrom (Berger)
for Branch 36 Union President!

In order to get stronger we MUST unite as one. We are the future of this Branch. I say WE because even though I have been here for 15 years already, I am looking at another 20 years ahead of me. Retirement isn’t an option for me at ANY point in the near future. Moving forward it is integral to the strength of our union to get any and all new hires, current and future, involved in the process of the union and have their voice heard as well.

Having as many years as I do ahead of me ensures that I MUST see any and all decisions made to benefit and strengthen the union, through. Now that I have established I am in this for the long haul, it should ease any concern, that I will ALWAYS have the memberships best interest in mind while upholding the contract at all times.

The working relationships I have built in the union office with my fellow stewards is a great step towards the betterment of our membership. It’s the relationships I have forged with older and newer members on the floor that I hope shows the conviction I have to represent this union with passion, integrity and honor.

Thanks for coming to the page and supporting me in this upcoming election! Please allow me this opportunity to introduce myself.
I have been employed by USPS since 2005 as a casual and hired full time in 2007.
I have been a proud union member since 2007.

I grew up in a union household my whole childhood and part of adulthood with my father being a steward in Shrewsbury Ma (Central) for many years. To say that it’s been instilled in me since day one is an understatement. I have an extremely strong conviction to provide our membership with the best representation possible.

Since I can remember, I have wanted to be as involved as much as life allowed me to with union. I consider myself very lucky for life to now have allowed me to fight for Branch 36 as a Tour 1 steward and am ecstatic for the opportunity to possibly do so as your president! I truly look forward to any and all of your continued support during this election!

I started in the Post Office as a casual in Shrewsbury 2005. I was then hired full time in 2007 in Westborough and then transferred here to Springfield in 2008. To say I’ve been through the wringer is an understatement with all the Schedulers and Matrix as well. In 2010 under the mentorship of our current Local president Dan St. Marie I was put up as a Union Steward. I had to step down in 2015 for personal reasons but when I saw all the changes happening earlier this year and being planned I decided it was time to fight for our membership again!

Plans to modernize our facility is a great step in the right direction to ensure we are gainfully employed here in Springfield for many more years to come. These changes will most definitely bring more changes to Staffing/Schedulers. We must have someone in place who will be at work, willing to fight for the membership, uphold the contract and have our members' backs!

As the times have changed so must we. It is crucial for our Union to continue to become stronger than we already are and not move backwards into our old ways! Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and hope to have your continued support during this Election!
