In connection with the City's housing planning process, our consultant trained a team of folks today to do a field survey of all the homes in Springfield. Over the next three weeks, these folks will survey the conditions of all of our 38,000 residential properties. The data will be used to determine the most strategic places for the city to invest in housing. Learn more about the plan at www.HousingSpringfield.org

The Offices of Housing & Community Development, in partnership with Way Finders, are making available the application for a lottery to choose the purchasers of two brand new, energy-efficient single-family homes at 18 Highland Street and 28 Terreance Street.

These two homes are part of a new homeownership project, City of Homes. The properties had been taken by the City of Springfield for the non-payment of taxes. Way Finders acquired the properties from the City and demolished them to prepare the sites for construction.

The new homes are approximately 1,400 square feet and feature 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The construction was focused on energy efficiency and includes a multi-head mini-split heating and cooling system, electric water heater, a ducted Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV), and Energy Star appliances. Energy efficient windows and doors have been installed.

Each home in this program will be sold at a below market price to ensure it is affordable for the homebuyers. To be eligible to enter the lottery, applicants must meet household income-limits and be pre-approved for a mortgage of $210,000 or more. Household income of applicants cannot exceed maximum limits, which are set annually.

To apply for the lottery use this link: Lottery applications can be found here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/CityOfSpringfield1/CITYOFHOMESHOMEBUYERLOTTERYAPPLICATION2
