Heads up, St. Clair County! Starting Monday, June 8 at 6 a.m., lane closures will take place on the westbound collector-distributor (CD) lanes of I-55/64 between the Third Street exit and the Poplar Street Bridge for repairs. Both CD lanes will be closed, including access to the ramps for Tudor Avenue and southbound IL 3. The entrance ramp from Main Street and the ramp from the Martin Luther King Bridge eastbound to the CD will also be closed. Work is expected to be completed by Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m.

Heads up, Madison County! Lane closures will occur on I-270 over the Chain of Rocks Canal for routine structural inspections. Westbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane on Monday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastbound I-270 will be reduced to one lane on Tuesday, June 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. All entrance and exit ramps will remain open.

Heads up, St. Clair County! Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, June 5, lane closures will be in place on eastbound I-64 between Illinois 157 and Illinois 159. Two lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 8. These closures are required for road construction as part of ongoing corridor improvements.

In the past week, two workers lost their lives while working to keep Illinois moving. They were simply doing their jobs, bettering our communities and working to keep the public safe. They expected to return home to their families, but they did not. Our hearts go out to their loved ones, our partners at the Illinois Tollway, and everyone impacted by these tragedies.

Heads up, Will County travelers! Weekend lane closures will be in place on eastbound I-80 between Wheeler Avenue and Richards Street in Joliet, starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 5, for bridge deck repairs and pavement patching.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Weekend lane closures begin Friday night on I-80 in Joliet 🚧

Starting Friday, June 5 at 10 p.m., lane closures will be in place on eastbound I-80 between Wheeler Avenue and Richards Street through 5 a.m. Monday, June 8.

The closures are needed for bridge deck repairs and pavement patching to help keep I-80 in safe condition while the larger reconstruction project continues.

⚠️ Major travel delays are anticipated
⚠️ At least one lane will remain open
⚠️ Westbound I-80 will not be impacted this weekend
⚠️ Alternate routes are strongly encouraged

Additional weekend lane closures are expected over the next several weeks, alternating between westbound and eastbound I-80.

Progress continues on the new westbound I-270 bridge over the Mississippi River! With the final girder now in place, crews are forming and pouring bridge decks and finalizing the approach alignment. The project remains on track for completion in 2027.

Heads up, Iroquois County! Repairs on three I-57 bridges between the Buckley interchange (Exit 272) and the Ford County line will begin Wednesday, June 3. Crews will be working on bridge decks and approaches, with construction expected to be completed by August. Ongoing lane closures will affect both northbound and southbound I-57.
