I am so sorry but I have to close this weekend- I hurt my back and it’s now demanding I take care of it. Friday and Saturday students, please watch for an email with the new dates for this session. Also, those of you who are picking up work from ArtFest or have sent messages about pieces- I truly appreciate your patience as I work through the inquiries. I hope to meet you there early next week!

September Is Healthy Aging Month, and We Want to Celebrate You

Aging well is not about doing everything you did at thirty. It is about staying strong, staying connected, and staying you. That is exactly what our chair yoga classes are here for.

Growing older comes with change, but it does not have to mean giving up the things that make you feel like yourself. Our chair yoga program was built around one simple idea: healthy aging is possible at any stage, and it looks different for everyone. Here is how our classes support that:

Functional strength: We focus on the movements you actually use every day, like standing up from a chair, reaching for something on a shelf, or turning to check behind you. Building strength in these specific movements helps you stay capable and confident at home.

Balance and fall prevention: Falls are one of the biggest risks to independence as we age. Our classes work on balance and stability in a safe, supported way, so you can move through your day with less worry.

Mobility and flexibility: Stiffness can creep in over time and make everyday tasks harder than they need to be. Gentle, consistent movement helps keep your joints and muscles more comfortable and responsive.

Community and connection: Isolation is one of the quiet challenges of aging, and it affects wellbeing just as much as physical health does. Our classes are a place to see familiar faces, share a laugh, and feel like part of something.

Joy and laughter: We do not take ourselves too seriously in class. There is real research behind the benefits of laughter for stress and mood, and our students will tell you it is one of their favorite parts of showing up each week.

Accessibility and inclusion: You do not need any prior yoga experience, special equipment, or a certain fitness level to belong here. Every class meets you exactly where you are, chair and all.

Healthy aging is not about turning back the clock. It is about staying strong enough, connected enough, and joyful enough to keep living the life you want. This September, we would love for you to join us and see what a chair yoga class can do for you.
