Members of the Spring Fire Wildland Team take advantage of some down time on deployment to take care of the tools they need to fight fire.
Sharpening tools, chainsaws and preventative maintenance on their truck ensures they are ready when that next call comes in.
Spring Fire has crews deployed in North Texas and Northeast Texas. Our state has nearly a hundred active wildfires spread across 70 counties. Spring Firefighters have assisted with the Ross Fire and the MUD Road Fire over the last couple of weeks.

Tropical Storm Edouard is expected to make landfall along the Upper Texas Coast today.
A Flood Watch is in effect as increasing rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast.
Localized flash flooding will be the primary threat with this system.
This storm is very compact with a fairly small wind field. Coastal locations closest to the center will be the most prone to see tropical storm force winds. For the remainder of the area, winds will be much lighter, but 20-30mph gusts are possible in stronger rain bands.
With heavy rainfall, it’s important to remember some low-lying area crossings may become life-threatening.
If you see water over a roadway, turn around don’t drown. Continue to monitor trusted weather and emergency resources.

We now have the 5th named storm of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The National Hurricane Center has upgraded TD5 to Tropical Storm Edouard with maximum sustained winds at 40 mph. TS Edouard is expected to make landfall tomorrow along the southeast Texas coast.
The primary threat is heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding along and east of I-45 throughout Tuesday. A Flood Watch is in effect.
Edouard is the third Tropical Storm of the season for southeast Texas.
Tropical Storm Arthur made landfall in mid-June in the Matagorda Bay area and Tropical Storm Bertha made landfall in Louisiana and then proceeded west into Texas in late July.

Spring Firefighters are in north Texas battling the “Ross Fire”. They are teamed up with colleagues from the Klein Fire Department.
According to numbers released by the Texas Forest Service this weekend, the Ross Fire has already burned over 85,000 acres, destroying 157 structures, including 18 homes.
Another group of Spring Firefighters are further east near Commerce assisting with fires in that area.

Spring Fire’s Wildland Type 6 Engine is supporting Texas Forest Service dozer operations on the “MudRoad Fire” near Commerce today.
Today’s objective has been securing containment lines around the fire.
