What can a small school garden accomplish? 🌱

At this school, an alfalfa garden is doing more than growing crops. The alfalfa is sold to local families who use it to feed guinea pigs, and the proceeds help cover small but important school expenses.

The project is also a reflection of something bigger: a community working together to support its school and invest in its students' future.

Week after week, parents and community members at Ulpiano Navarro School came together to move this project forward. With the installation of the bathroom doors in May, the project has now been completed.

What does the first week of summer look like when you spend it in rural ?

For students from Purcell Marian High School, it meant building a playground alongside community members, sharing meals with host families, learning local traditions, exploring the region, and forming friendships that crossed language barriers.

They returned home with more than memories—they brought back a deeper appreciation for the community that welcomed them so warmly.

To ensure a smoother transition, Tandana has offered remedial courses to help displaced students catch up on missed schooling. These courses have received high praise from beneficiaries, equipping the students to succeed academically despite their challenging circumstances.
