On May 27, 2026, at approximately 10:28 p.m., two officers on patrol were flagged down in the area of the Gesner Drive apartment complex regarding a reported stabbing. Officers quickly encountered the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Malik Baptiste of Spring Valley. Mr. Baptiste fled on foot, prompting a brief foot pursuit before officers successfully apprehended him.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Baptiste unlawfully entered a residence located at 18 Gesner Drive and stabbed a male guest inside the home in the presence of a child. Mr. Baptiste also caused damage to several items within the residence.

The male stabbing victim refused to cooperate with law enforcement. Mr. Baptiste was arrested and charged with PL 140.30(3) Burglary in the First Degree, PL 140.30(2) Burglary in the First Degree, PL 140.25(2) Burglary in the Second Degree, PL 265.02 Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, PL 145.05(2) Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, PL 260.10(1) Endangering the Welfare of a Child, PL 195.05 Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and PL 205.30 Resisting Arrest.

Mr. Baptiste was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Mellion in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court. Bail was set at $50,000 cash, $75,000 bond, or a $100,000 partially secured bond. Mr. Baptiste was transported to the Rockland County Jail.

On May 28, 2026, at approximately 10:30 AM, the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the area of 53 Sneden Place West following a report of a stabbing. Responding officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound to her right eye requiring immediate medical assistance.

Spring Hill Ambulance arrived on scene and transported the female to Westchester Medical Center. Shortly after the incident, a description of the suspect was broadcasted, and an alert patrol officer observed the male and was able to safely take him into custody.

Oniel James, a 40-year-old from Spring Valley was charged with (Attempted) Assault with Intent to cause Serious Injury (Weapon) a B-1 Felony, Assault in the 2nd Degree, a D-2 Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, an A Misdemeanor. James was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Tenemil where he was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.

On May 19, 2026, at approximately 11:59 a.m., the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the parking lot of 175 East Route 59 following a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle. Responding officers interviewed the victim, who reported that an unknown individual had shattered the front driver-side window of his vehicle and stolen a wallet containing cash and credit cards.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the stolen credit cards had been used at the Palisades Center Mall. Detectives responded to the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. As a result of the investigation, 29 year-old Sydeesa Sisco of Spring Valley and 33-year-old Terrence Rabel of Spring Valley were arrested on May 26, 2026.

Both defendants were charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, and Petit Larceny. Mr. Rabel was also charged in connection with two additional vehicle larceny investigations, while Ms. Sisco was charged in connection with one additional vehicle larceny investigation.

Both defendants were arraigned before the Honorable Judge Sweet and remanded to the Rockland County Jail.

PRESS RELEASE 26SV08024
On May 14, 2026, at approximately 2:05 a.m., officers from the Spring Valley Police Department were dispatched in response to an unknown incident that was later determined to have occurred at 29 South Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a deep facial laceration consistent with a slashing. The victim informed officers that the injury was sustained during an assault by multiple individuals. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. Due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation was subsequently assigned to the Detective Bureau. Following a thorough investigation, the following individuals were arrested in connection with the incident:

• Kevin Cardona, 31, of Nanuet
• Alexander Salazar-Rosa, 24, undomiciled
• Manuel Vargas-Casum, 22, undomiciled
• Keny Aragon-Segura, 25, undomiciled
• Rodbin Garcia-Medina, 20, undomiciled

All five defendants were charged with PL 120.07 Gang Assault in the First Degree, PL 120.10(1) Assault in the First Degree, PL 120.10(2) Assault in the First Degree, PL 160.15(1) Robbery in the First Degree, and PL 160.10(2)(a) Robbery in the Second Degree.
All five defendants were arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, at approximately 5:12 PM, the Spring Valley Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 2 Dutch Lane.

Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive 20-year-old male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers immediately initiated CPR until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived on the scene.

The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

On April 16, 2026, following an intensive investigation, the Spring Valley Police Department arrested 21-year-old Ramapo resident Doodly Metellus and 20-year-old Spring Valley resident Smay Dornaison.

During the apprehension of Mr. Metellus, officers recovered a loaded firearm in his possession.

Mr. Metellus has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C felony. Mr. Dornaison has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A felony.

Both defendants were arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Mellion and were remanded to the Rockland County Jail.

The Spring Valley Police Department would like to thank the FBI New York–Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Intelligence Unit, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, the Ramapo Police Department, and the MTA Police K-9 Unit for their assistance in this investigation.

On March 31, 2026, at approximately 6:00
PM, the Spring Valley Police Department responded to the area of 94 N Main St for a burglary in progress.

Responding officers encountered a male inside of an apartment and when confronted by the police, the male barricaded himself inside. The Rockland County REACT (Rescue, Entry, and Counter Terrorism) team was activated, and they were able to successfully take the male into custody.

Shawn Alexander Laury, a 31-year-old Spring Valley resident, was arrested and charged with Burglary 2nd, a C Felony, Criminal Mischief 2nd, a D Felony, and Criminal Mischief 3rd, an E Felony.

Shawn was held pending arraignment in the Spring Valley Justice Court.

On January 31, 2026, the Spring Valley Police Department received a report of a robbery that occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the area of 50 South Main Street. The victim reported being assaulted at knifepoint by three unknown males, during which two gold chains were forcibly taken. The victim sustained injuries to the face and neck.

Following an extensive investigation by the Detective Bureau, three suspects were identified and arrested:

• Dario Hernandez-Vasquez, 32, of Spring Valley – arrested February 10, 2026
• Santiago T. Tzalam, 46, of Spring Valley – arrested March 24, 2026
• Martin D. Campos-Veliz, 37, of the Bronx – arrested March 24, 2026

All three were charged with multiple counts of Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony) and Robbery in the Second Degree (Class C Felonies). Campos-Veliz was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanors).

Each defendant was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail of $10,000 cash, $50,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond.

PRESS RELEASE – 26SV04695

On March 19, 2026, at approximately 6:39 p.m., the Spring Valley Police Department responded to 120 South Main Street for a reported incident that was later determined to be a robbery.

Officers located and detained two juvenile suspects and one adult male at the scene. The investigation revealed that the victim had entered the suspects’ vehicle, where a pair of scissors was held to his throat. The suspects forcibly removed the victim’s cellphone and approximately $10 in cash. They also used the victim’s phone to transfer $6 through a mobile payment application.

The victim was later released after convincing the suspects he could retrieve additional money from his residence, at which point he contacted police.

Following the investigation, Dennis Osei, 19, of New City, along with two 17-year-old juveniles (one from West Haverstraw and one from the Bronx), were arrested. The juveniles’ identities are being withheld due to their age.

Osei was charged with:
• Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony)
• Robbery in the Second Degree (Class C Felony)
• Menacing in the Second Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
• Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

He was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on bail of $10,000 cash, $25,000 bond, or $35,000 partially secured bond.

Both juveniles were charged with Robbery in the First and Second Degrees and were arraigned in Rockland County Youth Part, where they were released on their own recognizance.
