Progress continues at the new Station 18 for our beloved Crest community! Lightweight concrete floors have been poured on the second floor, and construction crews are making steady headway on framing and exterior siding as the structure takes shape. The project remains on schedule with an anticipated completion date for later in May!

In a moment of crisis, Cruze Beyer didn’t panic, he took action. When his father’s arm caught fire while lighting a BBQ, Cruze told his mother to call 911 and rushed to grab a garden hose to stop the flames. At only 9 years old, his courage, calm thinking, showed what real heroism looks like.

Crews are currently on scene of a single-vehicle collision into three parked cars with fire involving multiple vehicles. Witnesses report the occupants fled the scene as the fire started. Firefighters have extinguished the vehicles and nearby vegetation. Units on scene are currently being assisted by ASTREA to locate the vehicle occupants.

Calle Albara is closed between Avenida Apolonaria and Jamacha Rd. Please avoid the area.

San Miguel, alongside AMR, CHP, and SDSO, responded to a 3-vehicle rollover collision with one person trapped at Jamacha Blvd & San Diego St. Jamacha Blvd will remain closed in both directions for several hours during the investigation.

With several serious accidents reported this week, please slow down, stay alert, and drive safely.

Crews from San Miguel, HFR, and Lakeside, alongside CHP, SDSO, and AMR, responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision on La Cresta Rd. in Crest. The incident resulted in serious injuries and is under investigation by CHP.

La Cresta Rd. will be closed westbound for several hours, with one lane open eastbound into Crest. Please plan accordingly and use alternate routes.

Early this morning, at 2:45 a.m., a third-alarm fire broke out at a commercial structure on 8300 Paradise Valley Road. The fire completely destroyed two businesses and caused water and smoke damage to two others. A total of 18 businesses were saved due to the quick response from everyone involved. Units remained on scene through the morning until 10 a.m., with support from multiple agencies including SMG, HFR, SDFD, National City, Chula Vista, Bonita, SDSO, and AMR. Responding resources included 14 engines, 4 trucks, and 6 Chief officers.

Today, late morning, units from San Miguel and SDSO responded to a large vehicle fire on Moorepark St. involving a fully involved 20’ motorhome. Extended mopup and overhaul operations were required, leaving Moorepark closed for an extended period of time. The street has since been reopened.

Last night, units from San Miguel, Lemon Grove, and La Mesa responded to a single-family residence on Fairway Dr in Spring Valley for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage, extending into the attic space. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack and the fire was knocked down in approximately thirty minutes. Three adults were displaced and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
