Important Update: 2026 Wreaths Across America
The date for Wreaths Across America in 2026 will remain Saturday, December 19th. Wreaths Across America has successfully rotated between the second and third Saturday of December for many years. This decision is never made lightly and is based on many operational factors.
These factors include when Thanksgiving falls, which impacts sponsorship timing. Historically, the period immediately following Thanksgiving is when sponsorships are strongest, as people begin focusing on Wreaths Across America after the holiday.
The date for 2026 was finalized and shared with all core volunteers early in 2025. It will not be changed.
There are also benefits to the later date. It allows for later cutoff dates, allowing locations to take advantage of , which many requested this year. Additionally, a later date can allow families who are not normally in town to attend the ceremony. While some regular volunteers may be unavailable, new volunteers often step in, and existing volunteers may choose to participate at a different cemetery where they are traveling.
We have held ceremonies on later dates in the past with no negative impact on nationwide participation, and we do not anticipate that changing in 2026—though it may look different in some locations.
We sincerely hope that everyone will continue to support the mission. If you are unable to participate on this date, please notify your liaison as soon as possible so we can work toward identifying replacements and ensure the mission continues to move forward.
We hope we can move forward together and focus on the incredible good accomplished this past weekend as we continue to Remember, Honor, and Teach.
