Happy first week of school Walden Green! 🤩

We are *so* excited to see the kids tomorrow morning! Here are a couple of tips for the first day!

✅Please help the children remember their inside shoes and outside shoes.
✅It is going to be warm and sunny this week, and our Montessori learners get a lot of outdoor time! If you want your child to have sunscreen, please apply it at home before school. You may also want to use bug spray!
✅Let's keep the kids hydrated on these warm days by packing a good sized water bottle! We have a water bottle filler by the main floor bathrooms if they need to refill it.
✅The kids play so hard outside and are also learning so many new rhythms in the classroom this week. Please be sure they pack a nutrient-balanced lunch and snack so they are fueled for their busy day.
✅CAR LINE PROCEDURE! Please drop off and pick up using the Roosevelt Road cul-de-sac to loop around into the car line! We will have plenty of staff and a couple of PTO volunteers helping your children in and out of the cars ❤

❤️Practice Good-Byes❤️

Prepare your child's mindset for the "good-bye" at drop-off. Your child will feed off your approach - tell them about this with positive confidence! Tell them that someone will help them get out of the car, and show them to their classroom. Remind your child that you (or another loved one) will be back to pick them up at 3:30pm, and that you can't wait to hear about their day!

🧼Hygiene Practice🧼

Be sure your child knows how to wash their hands appropriately. Children will be washing with soap and water before and after meals, during classroom transitions, after recess, and after using the bathroom. Show your child how to blow their nose properly, and remind them to wash their hands afterward.

🌳Outdoor Ed Gear🌳

Your child will have outdoor education each week. Rain or shine! Please send your child with a poncho or raincoat and rain boots if the weather calls for rain. Practice playing in the rain with your child! Remind them they will get to enjoy the outdoors in all kinds of beautiful weather!

🧹Clean Up Practice🧹

Encourage your child to help clean up their play area at the end of the day. We call this "restoring the environment" in Montessori settings. Help your child learn how to use a small dustpan and brush - our Montessori learners use these tools to clean their area after snack and lunch.

🌞School Day Rhythm🌞

Start practicing a school day rhythm. Your child will build their stamina for a full day of school over time. This is an adjustment. A normal school day rhythm to practice would look like this:
✅Wake up & get ready for the day
✅Go out for a few hours with a snack
✅Return home for lunch
✅Play outside
✅Read books for 30 minutes
