Just two more days until the bowling event. A lot of great prizes will be given out for a great cause. Event is family friendly and the kids will win something. Congratulations to the 2018 winners of the Steenwyk/Chatfield Memorial Scholarship, Josie Brown and Nate Roelofs.

Josie was chosen as the winner of the $4,000.00 Scholarship. Her father Brent Brown is a deputy with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. She will be attending Tiffin University in the Fall.

Nate Roelofs was the second place winner and will receive a $1,000.00 Scholarship. His father Mike Roelofs also works for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Nate will be attending Grand Rapids Community College in the Fall and then plans to transfer to Grand Valley State.

Please come out on Friday April 20th at Starlite Lanes and help us congratulate the winners and support the scholarship.

The 2018 scholarship application is now available. Leave me a comment or send me a message and I will e-mail the application to you. I also posted photos of some our past winners. Emily Ponstein is a freshman at Trinity Christian and playing on the women's soccer team. Austin Lynema is a senior at Grand Valley State. He is also excelling with the Grand Rapids Police Explorer Program and as a cadet with Holland Police Department. Ryan Gamby was the first ever winner and is a probation officer and is finishing up with his law degree.

We got the opportunity to meet a great young man from the Make A Wish Foundation at the Charity Lion's Basketball Game. Ma'Kio was in need of a laptop to help him in school. The Steenwyk and Chatfield Scholarship and The Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff's Association - Michigan were able to team together and get him a laptop for school. We are partnering with Spartan Nash Company to raise money through the Direct Your Dollars Program. Basically we need to collect $150,000 worth of receipts from any of their stores. These include D&W, Family Fare, Forest Hills Foods, ValuLand, and VG's. We just need the receipts, nothing more. The scholarship will be awarded $1,000 if we can collect the money. Please start saving your recipients so you can turn them over to the scholarship. You can mail the receipts to me or I'll be setting up locations and people you can drop them off to.
