📢 Public Notice – Proposed FY 2026-2027 Budget 📢

The proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget for the Town of Spring Lake has been presented to the Spring Lake Governing Board and is available for public inspection at the Spring Lake Municipal Building, located at 300 Ruth Street, Spring Lake, NC, in the office of the Town Clerk from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The Spring Lake Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed budget:

🚧 Water Outage Notice – Utility Construction 🚧

Due to utility construction in the New Holly Hills neighborhood off of Odell Road, there will be individual water outages in the affected area.

📅 Wednesday, May 20, 2026
⏰ Individual water outages will occur until 6:00 pm today.

📅 Thursday, May 21, 2026
⏰ Individual water outages will continue from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

💧 Individual water services are expected to be affected for approximately 30 minutes at a time on both days. “Individual” means the outage could or could not affect your residence.

📅 Please also note there will be an additional water outage in the same area on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. At this time, no estimated outage timeframe has been established. Once more information becomes available, it will be released.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews continue this important infrastructure work.

Today at 12 noon a subject approached the Spring Lake fire/police department and advised them that a bag containing a bomb had been placed in front of the facility. He was apprehended on Main Street with 2 additional bags. The 2 locations were evacuated for public safety. The Cumberland County sheriff’s Office bomb squad responded to both locations and processed the items for several hours. Each bag contained wires and electronics, but there were not any explosive devices found. The subject has been arrested and is being processed at Cumberland County sheriff’s office.

Residents, educators, and civic leaders urged the school district not to close Manchester Elementary during a hearing on Monday.

Last night Cumberland County Schools hosted the Manchester Elementary School public forum, and the Town of Spring Lake showed UP. Parents, grandparents, veterans, longtime residents, elected officials, and so many others all there to say the same thing: DO NOT CLOSE OUR SCHOOL! Spring Lake is growing. New families are coming. New developments are being built. You do not close a school in a town that is on the rise. You invest in it. Our children deserve better. Our community deserves better. And tonight, this town made sure that was heard loud and clear. Watch the meeting below.
