Today, our community pauses to remember September 11, 2001.

We remember the lives lost, the families who were forever changed, and the first responders and everyday heroes who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their memories and the spirit of compassion, unity, and service that brought people together in the days that followed.

🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT: Overnight Highway 65 Closures

Southbound Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park will be closed overnight Wednesday, September 2, and Thursday, September 3, as crews continue repairs to the westbound County Road 10 bridge.

Drivers should plan for an alternate route, follow posted detours and allow extra travel time if traveling through the area overnight.

🚧 Weekend Closure: Southbound Highway 65

MnDOT will fully close southbound Highway 65 at County Road 10/Mounds View Boulevard from 10:00 p.m. Friday, August 28 through approximately 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 31 for repairs to the County Road 10 bridge.

Crews will remove the damaged bridge girder and install a replacement. The westbound County Road 10 to southbound Highway 65 loop ramp will also be closed.

Detour: County Road 10 → Highway 47/University Avenue → I-694 → Highway 65.

Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time. A second weekend closure is anticipated in mid-September for additional bridge work.

🚧 FINALLY! Bridge repairs are starting! 🚧

After nearly 10 months of detours and a closed ramp, MnDOT will begin repairs Monday, August 17 to the damaged County Road 10 bridge over Highway 65 in Spring Lake Park.

📅 What to expect:

➡️ Starting Aug. 17 — Weekday lane closures on southbound Highway 65 while crews begin work.

⛔ Aug. 28–31 — A full weekend closure of southbound Highway 65 is tentatively planned so crews can remove the damaged bridge beam and deck.

✅ Late fall — Weather permitting, repairs are expected to be completed.

The loop ramp from northbound Highway 65 to westbound County Road 10 has been closed since the bridge was struck by an over-height semi load on October 28, 2025.

We know this closure has been frustrating for residents, businesses and commuters, so this is very welcome news. We’re glad to finally see the repair work moving forward!
