This week, BOMA passed Resolution 26-161 to accept the donation of a Nature Area from Eagle Scout Luke O'Neal.

Luke approached the Spring Hill BOMA a few months ago with his idea to create a nature area in the Arboretum at Fischer Park. Thanks to Luke's hard work, that project has now been completed and includes balance beam, log climbers, and decorative snails. He sourced all of the materials himself, and his troop assisted him with the build.

Thank you Luke for creating another feature Spring Hill families can enjoy in Fischer Park, and congratulations on reaching the Rank of Eagle Scout!

Earlier this week, BOMA passed Resolution 26-260 to award the contract for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. At the recommendation of City Staff, BOMA agreed to a contract with Hodgson Douglas Landscape Architects (HDLA).

The Parks and Recreation Master Plan serves as a strategic planning tool for guiding policy decisions, capital investments, land acquisition, park development, and recreational programming for the next 10 years. The City’s original master plan was developed in 2012 and last updated in 2020.

HDLA's proposed plan includes many opportunities for the public to share input, including focus groups, workshops, public surveys, social media outreach, and more. Be on the lookout for ways to get involved as we shape the future of Parks and Recreation in Spring Hill!

This week, representatives from the City of Spring Hill and the Spring Hill, TN Historical & Genealogical Society were invited to the Governor's Residence in Nashville to meet with First Lady Maria Lee!

Earlier this year, the SHH&GS created the "America 250 Spring Hill, Tennessee Cookbook" — complete with recipes from Spring Hill residents past and present. Five dollars from each sale was donated to the Fire Belle Fund, to help preserve the Spring Hill Fire Department's first fire engine.

During the development of the book, SHH&GS President Benny Jett reached out to the governor's team to request recipes from Tennessee's first family. First Lady Maria Lee graciously sent along several recipes and she is featured in the cookbook!

On Wednesday, Vice Mayor Trent Linville accompanied the SHH&GS team to the Governor's Residence to meet with Tennessee's First Lady. We are grateful for the time she took out of her day, and we are thankful she was able to sign a copy of the cookbook for us to keep in our historical archives!
