Once you start converting purchases into HOURS OF YOUR LIFE, some stuff gets a whole lot less exciting.

That $500 night out isn’t just $500. If you’re bringing home $17.50 an hour after taxes, that’s almost 29 hours of work.

And that $90,000 truck?

Now you’re talking about thousands of hours of your life traded for something that starts depreciating the second you drive it off the lot.

I’m not saying never spend money on things you enjoy. That’s part of the reason we work in the first place.

But there’s a huge difference between asking, “Can I afford this?” and asking, “Is this worth the amount of my LIFE it took to earn it?”

That second question has stopped me from buying plenty of stupid stuff.
