This weekend our Cadre and soon-to-be-commissioned 400s visited Gettysburg National Military park on their Staff-ride.
The Cadets toured the battlefield in chronological order, starting at McPherson’s Ridge and ending at the High-water mark of the Confederacy. Each Cadet was tasked with briefing a portion of the battle, while Cadre reinforced those briefings and provided more lessons learned.
The battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was a major turning point in the Civil War. Meade’s Army of the Potomac (Union) faced off against Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia (Confederate). At the end of the three day conflict, around 51,000 Americans were wounded, missing, or killed.
