This afternoon, Lincoln County Fire District 1 EMTs responded to a critical medical emergency on eastbound I-90. Due to the severity of the incident emergency crews temporarily shut down the freeway to allow a helicopter to safely land.

The patient was stabilized on scene by our EMTs and Airlift Northwest flight nurses before being transferred to the helicopter for rapid transport to a regional medical center.

We want to thank the Washington State Patrol, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, LCSO and Airlift Northwest for their cooperation during this response.

Situations like this highlight the importance of quick teamwork and coordination between agencies to give patients the best possible chance of survival.

🚨 Fire Update – Crown Creek & Blackhawk Mountain Fires (Located west of Northport, WA) 🚨

Lincoln County Fire District 1 has deployed Brush Truck 116 as apart of a Spokane-based strike team to assist with the Crown Creek and Blackhawk Mountain fires located west of Northport, Wa. Both fires experienced extreme fire behavior today, with growth in multiple directions and expanded evacuation boundaries.

The spokane strike team is currently working night shift structure protection, assisting in constructing firelines, and clearing brush along key areas like Clugston-Onion Creek Road. Multiple aircraft were also working to slow the fires’ spread. Winds shifted throughout the day, causing the fires to change direction several times.

Lincoln county fire district 1 was called out to assist Lincoln county fire district 6 (Harrington) with a wildfire north of Sprague, WA. While crews were hard at work, fire commissioner Sam Ringwood made sure the kids at Sprague Park didn’t miss out on their last day of the Fun in the Sun reading and arts & crafts program—cooling them off with a refreshing spray from the fire hose!

Lincoln County Fire District 1 is currently assisting with the Clayton Road Fire in Garfield County, west of Clarkston, WA. This fire began on Monday July 28th at approximately 0600 . The fire is estimated at approximately 400 acres and is burning slowly through grass and brush.

District personnel are operating as Tactical Tender 116, assigned to a regional strike team deployed out of Spokane. Crews are supporting suppression efforts and providing tactical water support as needed.

Lincoln County Fire District 1 has deployed Brush 113 as part of a Northeast Washington State Mobilization Team. The crew is assisting with structure protection and civilian evacuation on the Hope Fire, which started around 1:15 PM on July 8, 2025.

The fire is burning near the junction of Northport Flat Creek Rd and 15 Mile Creek Rd, approximately 15 miles north of Kettle Falls and 12 miles southwest of Northport. It has grown to approximately 3,200 acres with 0% containment, driven primarily by wind and fueled by grasses and shrubs.

Lincoln County Fire District 1 has deployed Brush truck 113, staffed by members of the district’s summer hire crew, with a strike team requested by the Northeast Washington State Mobilization Team to assist with initial attack operations on the Apple Acres Fire near Pateros,WA . The fire has grown to approximately 3,200 acres with 50% containment . Crews are currently working to protect apple orchards and structures along the fires southern flank.

Lincoln County Fire District #1, Sprague, Washington is hiring one (1) seasonal firefighter. Duties include firefighting, ambulance response, station maintenance, equipment maintenance and equipment testing. Applicants must be NWCG FF2 qualified or higher. Preference will be given to individuals with Washington State EMT certification. Interested parties respond to this ad at : [email protected] with a letter of interest or cover letter and resume. For more information you can call Lincoln County Fire District #1 at: 509-257-2926. Position will be open until filled. Position is expected to start June 9th and conclude September 15th, 2025 with possible extension based on fire season. Pay is $20.00/hour, schedule is Monday thru Friday 8 am – 5 pm with a 1 hour lunch. Seasonal employees may be deployed on large regional fires for periods of two (2) weeks or more. This is a non-benefited position with no guarantee expressed or implied for future employment.
