Information for Spotsylvania County Property Owners: Deed Fraud Alert Notifications

We have received many inquiries about whether Spotsylvania County offers a deed fraud alert notification service, especially as surrounding jurisdictions have recently introduced similar programs.

Spotsylvania County has been offering this service since October 2, 2024.

Property owners can register to receive alerts that notify them of any activity involving their property records—an important tool in helping detect potential deed fraud.

Please refer to the attached memo for instructions on how to enroll in this service.

UPDATE: All county offices & facilities, including convenience centers & landfill will open on a 3-Hour delay at 11am on Friday, December 5, 2025, due to expected inclement weather.

Spotsylvania Circuit Court, Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, General District Court, GD Court Clerk's Office, Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, and JDR Clerk's Office will be CLOSED tomorrow, 12/5/25.

All matters scheduled on the docket will be rescheduled, and notice will be provided to all parties.

The Commissioner of Revenue's Office & Assessment Office will be closed all day on Wednesday, August 27th for staff training. This does not affect any other County office.

Spotsylvania County Circuit Court will OPEN at 9:30AM Thursday, 2/20. Jurors report at 9:30AM. Court will begin at 10AM.

Spotsylvania General District Court will OPEN ON TIME Thursday, 2/20.

Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court will OPEN at 9:30AM Thursday, 2/20.

Our office is aware of the "returned mail" issue for PO Box 175. We have been in contact with the local post office to help remedy this situation. However, any mail that may have reached the Richmond facility before 1/27, could be returned.

Options are:
- Scan filing forms/documents and email to: [email protected]
- Fax documents to appropriate division (see instructions with filing forms)
- Place entire envelope that was returned in our drop box
- If payment was included with filing form, send forms to the above email and make the payment online @ www.spostylvania.va.us/billpay

We sincerely apologies for this inconvenience. We will work with each business and citizen that may have been affected by this issue.
