Summer is here and that means the risk for heat illness is going up! 🥵

Listen, I’m not saying you should stay inside all summer and fear for your life.

However, listen to your body. Heat can stress our system fast and it can make us very sick, or worse.

700+ people die on average annually in the U.S. from extreme heat.

I’ve included a graphic below with some heat stroke/exhaustion symptoms.

Take care of yourself, especially on those extra hot and humid afternoons.

This graphic isn’t flashy or funny, but it is an important one. Knowing the signs of heat related illnesses may save your life, or someone else’s life over the next several days. We encourage you to take a moment and review the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke on the graphic below.

With today’s expected to bring rain and winds of up to 50 mph, our trucks are fueled up, packed with extra supplies and ready to roll. ⛈️

Strong winds like these have the potential to topple trees and bring down branches on wires, which can lead to power outages. Remember to stay away from all downed wires and report outages to us asap.

With additional crews on call, we’re ready to work 24/7 to restore service safely and as quickly as possible, should outages occur.

Head to our stories for tips and visit pseg.com/outagecenter for up-to-date outage information.

Thursday midnight update: though the heaviest rain has left the area for now, additional rain is possible overnight and into tomorrow. Additionally, portions of New Castle County Delaware, and Chester County Pennsylvania which had flash flooding earlier in the evening, water will take time to recede. Flooding at night is especially dangerous as it is harder to gauge the depth of water. Never drive in to flooded roads or around barricades!
