đźš’ Today, August 18, we recognize National Volunteer Firefighters Day! đźš’

Since it was first proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, this day has honored the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the men and women who volunteer to protect their communities.

Volunteer firefighters answer the call for structure and wildland fires, medical emergencies, vehicle crashes, hazardous materials incidents, severe weather, and so much more.

With more than 85% of U.S. firefighters serving as volunteers or primarily volunteers, these dedicated individuals are truly the backbone of emergency response in communities across the country.

❤️ Thank you to every volunteer firefighter Their service, courage, and commitment make a difference every day.

The Town of Scott Volunteer Fire Department would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who came out and supported our community fundraising event this past weekend!

We are incredibly grateful to all of the volunteers who helped make the event possible, as well as to our generous donors and everyone who purchased raffle tickets. Your support means so much to our department and our community.

A special thank you goes to Mike and Trish Johnson for donating the majority of the food, and to Keith and Jacqueline Passow, The Shop, Kari and Go, and Sky-High Ranch for donating the remaining food and beverages. Because of your generosity, 100% of the funds raised at the event can go directly to the Fire Department, without having to cover event expenses. That is an incredible gift to our department!

We also want to congratulate the winners of our Grand Meat Raffle:

Kris B — ½ Hog
Roger S — Grill Pak
Dick D — Smokehouse Pak
Kay R — Chicken Pak
Karen W — Breakfast Pak

All winners have been notified.

Once again, thank you to everyone who supported the Town of Scott Volunteer Fire Department. Our department is an important part of our community, made up of dedicated volunteers who generously give their time and are always ready to respond when our neighbors are in need.

We are proud to serve this community, and we are grateful to have such an amazing community supporting us!

Thank you for helping us continue to help others!
