Before Jill came to Goodwill, she felt stuck and unsure of her purpose — but everything changed when she joined the Extended Employment Program. With one big goal of keeping a job for more than six months, she showed up every day and slowly rebuilt her confidence.

Today, Jill proudly celebrates 18 years at Goodwill, a testament to her strength and commitment. She works hard behind the scenes to keep stores clean and running smoothly, making her one of our many unsung heroes.

Darrell is a Veteran who lost everything but is rebuilding his life with the help of Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF). After years of struggling to find stability, a home, and the comfort he thought he’d lost, he finally had hope.

“At a time when I thought I would be homeless forever, they were there when I needed them,” he shared. With support, he was able to furnish his new place, get a new washer and dryer, and start planning for the future.

Today, Darrell isn’t just surviving, he’s thriving and hopeful, and proud to call his new place home.

In 2025, we saw 6,428 participants walk through our doors. From Moses Lake to Ponderay, and down to Lewiston—they were seeking support and found hope, skills, and community. Here's what we wish every veteran knew: SSVF is here—and you don’t have to figure this out alone.

Asking for help can be hard. Many veterans worry they’re not deserving, or that they might be taking help away from someone else. But the truth is this: you earned support through your service.

Whether you’re unsure if your situation qualifies, what help might look like, or where to even begin, our team is ready to listen. We take pride in a personal, human approach and walk alongside veterans to talk through options and find a path forward together.

This is how we honor service: by showing up, meeting people where they are, and reminding veterans they are worthy of support.

Honoring service also means meeting veterans where they’re at and helping them find a way forward.

While SSVF has eligibility requirements tied to discharge status, questions around discharge aren’t always clear. Even when enrollment in SSVF isn’t possible, we still encourage veterans to reach out.

We can help connect individuals to resources, referrals, and information about processes like petitioning for a discharge status upgrade.

This is how we honor service: by listening first, offering guidance, and helping veterans get connected to the right support—even beyond our program.

We still have one more day of sharing how SSVF supports veterans and their families throughout Armed Forces Week.

Honoring service means making help easy and fast to reach.

SSVF starts with a simple phone call to our outreach hotline. Veterans and their families connect with a real person, and from there, we work quickly to prioritize enrollment and next steps.

We’ll get you in the door, even if paperwork isn’t complete yet. Our goal is to sit down with you within days, connect you with a case manager, and begin building a clear path forward toward stable housing.

This is how we honor service: by responding with urgency, compassion, and real support when it’s needed most.
