Shout out to IBEW Local 73 for their member training on politics, activism, and livelihoods in the electrical trades.

IBEW Local 73 was a founding member of the Spokane Alliance and has been critical to building labor-community strength!

Another successful PAL training session thanks to our instructors Corey Duncan and San Gilbrech last night! Excited to see what these members do with this new knowledge.

Each class we aim to have a guest speaker and were privileged to have Laurel Fish, the Lead Organizer from the Spokane Alliance , as our speaker for this recent class.

The Spokane Alliance is a non-partisan and non-profit alliance of congregations, unions, student and community groups in Spokane County representing over 20,000 adults. Including IBEW Local 73!

Don't miss out on your opportunity to get this training, RSVP to one of the upcoming classes to secure your spot, claim your t-shirt and get entered to win one of our great raffle prizes.

We are still feeling the excitement from last night’s “Our Stories, Our Future” Fundraiser!

Thank you to everyone who showed up, volunteered, sponsored, and planned the event to support for the Spokane Alliance. A special shout out to our speakers as well for sharing their powerful stories and experiences with our organization.

We were truly overwhelmed by the incredible turnout and the generosity in the room. Seeing so many faith communities, labor partners, neighbors, and friends gathered together was a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish as a community.

We are honored to share that together we surpassed our goal...stay tuned for the full total!

Thank you St. John's Cathedral, Spokane for hosting us in your Great Hall and the the following vendors:

"Our Stories, Our Future" is almost sold out!

We hope you will join us for an evening of storytelling, celebration, and investment in the future of our community—highlighting twenty-five years of public victories and personal transformation through community organizing.

At this event, you will hear from leaders whose lives and institutions have been shaped by organizing:

- Joe Chrastil will share the story of the Spokane Alliance’s Founding Assembly, which brought 750 people into the Spokane Convention Center.
- Katia Jasmin will reflect on co-chairing the assembly where the City of Spokane committed $9 million for affordable housing.
- Dr. Luis Manriquez will share how he built a new institution to equip medical students with tools to advance health equity.
- Rev. Emily Kuenker will reflect on how her experiences in global conflict zones led her to engage faith leaders and young people in building local power in Spokane.

We’d love to see you there—please RSVP so we can plan for your seat.

We invite you to attend the Friends of the Alliance Fundraiser, "Our Stories, Our Future," on May 21st, 5:30-7:00pm at St. John’s Cathedral. It will be an evening dedicated to celebrating our shared accomplishments and investing in our future, featuring a TED Talk-style program. The Spokane Allian...

The research and discernment phase of community organizing is essential to good policy making. Here's one of the articles our Housing Team has been reading recently. What do you think?

Local governments are trying to create housing that is permanently affordable by investing directly in construction. They are rewriting how housing programs have traditionally operated.

In 2019, the Housing Equity Action Research Team worked with District 3 state legislators to expanded the allowable uses of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding to include affordable housing.

Today, that victory is delivering tangible results: Habitat for Humanity is using these funds to renovate seven affordable homes in West Central.

This wouldn't have happened without a group of very committed neighbors digging in deep to the policy details of our state laws and then deciding to do something about it!

On Monday, the Spokane City Council’s Urban Experience Committee got an early look at a proposal to invest a significant sum from the West Quadrant Tax Increment Finance District in
