Spokane Virtual Spokane Virtual ( both Learning and Academy) where personalized learning is the norm.

Spokane Virtual Learning is a Web-based educational program providing certificated, instructor-led online courses to students in Spokane Public Schools and across Washington state. Founded by Spokane Public Schools, Spokane Virtual Learning began in 2005 to fulfill the needs of students who required a non-traditional learning environment. Students are able to take classes online that they might no

t be able to access at their home school due to scheduling problems. It also allows students who may be in need of credit recovery to access those classes while staying on track to graduate.

Today we took all of our 3rd–5th grade SVL students to their very first college theater experience at Spokane Falls Community College 🎭

They got to sit inside the Spartan Theatre and watch The Love of Three Oranges — and wow, what a day. From the costumes to the dramatic moments to the big laughs, our students were completely locked in. For many of them, this was their first time seeing a live play, and you could feel the excitement the entire time.

Field trips like this matter. They open doors, spark imagination, and show our students what’s possible beyond the classroom. We had a blast, made memories, and maybe even inspired a few future performers. 💛✨

Major highlights from Snow School ❄️

For most of our students, this was their first day ever at Mount Spokane — and they did not hold back. We snowshoed 3 miles through fresh snow, learned how to rescue someone buried in an avalanche using a beacon, and explored where our local water actually comes from.

They studied native trees from this region, talked about animal migration, and ate lunch at the top like absolute legends. 🏔️

Even better — they met new friends from and built community with another alternative school.

Huge thank you to for teaching our students so well and making the day unforgettable.

I’m pretty sure everyone is exhausted… but the good kind of exhausted. Until next year❄️

We’re so grateful to partner every year with for Snow School. This year we also got to team up with — such a powerful day of hands-on learning, teamwork, and real-world skills.

Our 8th grade students of color attended Color of Justice Day at the Spokane Courthouse ⚖️

They met lawyers and judges, practiced court proceedings, and explored real courtrooms while learning how the justice system works. Powerful exposure and an inspiring day for our students. 🤍

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by reflecting on the power of love, empathy, and justice. At Spokane Virtual Learning, we are committed to building a community where every student feels seen, valued, and supported—today and every day.
