To flush or not to flush. While it might seem OK to flush certain items down the toilet, it’s best to reserve the “bathroom throne” for human waste and toilet paper only.

Items like cooking grease or oil, non-flushable wipes, feminine hygiene products, paper towels, medications, and household chemicals should never be flushed down the toilet.

You might know about hepatitis A, B, and C, but did you know there is hepatitis D?

The hepatitis D virus can also cause damage and inflammation of the liver, but only people who have hepatitis B are at risk for contracting hepatitis D.

Those with hepatitis B who have traveled out of the country, were born abroad, or have chronic symptoms of the virus should consider asking their healthcare provider for hepatitis D testing.

It’s National Don’t Fry Day! Today is a reminder that as we gear up for summer and the warmer weather that comes with it, that we also consider how to protect our skin from the sun's UV rays.

While there are many benefits to getting outdoors and enjoying a little vitamin D, overexposure to the sun’s UV rays can lead not only to a bad sunburn but to an increased risk of skin cancer.

Here are a few tips to enjoy the sun safely:

✅ Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 every two hours.
✅ Wear a wide-brimmed hat to cover areas more likely to be overexposed to the sun, such as your ears, nose, and forehead.
✅ Wear sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays.
✅ Take breaks from the sun and spend time in the shade.
✅ Choose darker-colored clothing made from tighter woven fabric.
