Programs of LCSNW
o Child Welfare - Places youth from extreme cases of trauma abuse and neglect in structured foster care system with 24 hr wrap around support for children, teens and foster parents. o Sexual Assault and Family Trauma Response Center (SAFeT) Therapeutic Services - Provides comprehensive mental health services to individuals and families in our community who have experienced life a

ltering traumatic events, like robbery, murder, assault or rape. We are the largest provider of children’s mental health services in Spokane County. o SAFeT Advocacy and Education - As the area’s only Certified Sexual Assault Program, we provide 24 hr crisis response to victims of sexual assault and violent crimes including Human Trafficking, by providing the Rape Crisis Hotline and the Crime Victims Hotline. Our Advocates may work with victims in hospitals and or at criminal justice proceedings. Lutheran Community Services Northwest provides education and prevention services to schools and the community to reduce rates of victimization before it occurs.

In observance of the holiday, our offices will be closed today and will resume normal business hours on Monday.

"Freedom's Eve" on January 1, 1863, marked the first Watch Night services where African Americans gathered in anticipation of the Emancipation Proclamation. The Emancipation Proclamation declared all enslaved people in the Confederate States legally free at midnight. Implementation was limited in areas still under Confederate control, delaying freedom for many, particularly in Texas. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas with the news that the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in the state were free. This day came to be known as , a time to celebrate, gather as a family, reflect on the past and look to the future. ❤️💛💚🖤

The Elder Justice Act defines elder abuse as the knowing infliction of physical or psychological harm or the knowing of deprivation of goods or services that are necessary to meet essential needs or avoid physical or psychological harm. "Elder" means an individual age 60 or older.

What are the types of elder abuse?
-Physical abuse
-Sexual abuse
-Emotional/Psychological abuse
-Financial
-Neglect
-Abandonment
-Self-neglect

How common is elder abuse? Research indicates that one in 10 people experience some form of elder abuse in the United States. You can find elder abuse specific laws for Washington State here: https://eagle.usc.edu/state-specific-laws/wa/

Refugee services have halted across many places in the nation, but we are still receiving youth in need of a safe and stable home. Youth in our Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program are already here in our communities and still need caring foster families.
