New Mexico became on Saturday the first U.S. state to offer free child care to all residents in a bid to boost its economy and lift education and child welfare levels ranked the worst in the country.

The Spokane City Council unanimously passed the childcare center ordinance! This ordinance affects the siting of childcare facilities, allowing them to open in both residential and commercial zones. It also waives the costly conditional use permit required to open a childcare facility.
