YWCA Spokane

YWCA Spokane Since 1903, YWCA Spokane has been serving the Spokane community, creating safety, opportunity, and lasting change. Visit us at ywcaspokane.org.

Since 1903, YWCA Spokane has been helping women and children overcome social, economic, and personal barriers in order to accomplish their goals and achieve healthier and more fulfilling lives. Today our areas of focus are supporting victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), building economic empowerment, promoting early childhood education, and confronting racial and social justice issues that

negatively impact our clients and our community. YWCA Spokane envisions a community in which IPV is no longer tolerated, and embraces this vision through a continuum of wrap-around services: 24-hour Helpline and Safe Shelter, Advocacy Support Center, Mental Health Services, Child Advocacy, Civil Legal Assistance, Legal Advocacy, Economic Empowerment Advocacy, and free Drop-In Childcare. YWCA Spokane impacted the lives of over 14,000 women, men, children, and families each year. By working at the intersections of inequality, poverty, and IPV we are able to disrupt longstanding societal patterns of trauma. To learn more visit ywcaspokane.org/impact.

Happy Pride Month!!๐ŸŒˆ

Pride is a time to celebrate the joy, strength, resilience, and humanity of LGBTQ+ communities while also recognizing the history and ongoing work toward equity, safety, and belonging for all people.

Pride began as protest, led by activists like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, and countless LGBTQ+ organizers who fought for dignity, visibility, and liberation in the face of discrimination and violence. As we celebrate this month, we also honor those who continue advocating for a world where everyone can live openly and authentically without fear.

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Pride Month!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿงกโค

Last Friday, Soroptimist of Spokane celebrated 100 years of dedicated service to the Spokane community and YWCA Spokane was honored to be part of it. We were proud to receive a certificate recognizing the work and mission of our agency, inspired by the stories shared by local scholarship recipients, and moved by a touching keynote from Lori Hunt. For 100 years, this dedicated group has shown up for our community and for us. We are deeply grateful for their partnership and ongoing support.

We are proud to support Asians for Collective Liberation in Spokane and the month-long celebration of Asian and Asian American Heritage Month.

This year's theme is "Be the Bridge," which serves as a call to action and invitation to show up and support one another. Throughout the month, you can find the Be the Bridge Art Exhibit in the Saranac Building Lobby featuring local Asian and Asian American artists.

This week, staff from YWCA Spokane attended the Women Helping Women Fund annual Give Like A Woman event, a fundraiser that raises critical funds for programs across Spokane who are making a difference in the lives of women and children. We're thrilled to share that our early childhood education program was selected as one of this year's grant recipients, and we are deeply grateful for the support. The room was filled with inspiration and people who give generously from the heart to help make Spokane a better place for all.
