It’s every mother’s nightmare: your kid goes out to play and never comes home. The next time you see him— he’s dead.

This nightmare became a reality for Lisa Sorger on February 15th, 2003. That afternoon, when her son went out to play, she never could have imagined the danger he was about to be in. Just a few hours later she found her son, Craig Sorger (age 13), brutally murdered and left for dead near a pond in Ephrata, Washington.

18 years later, convicted murderers Jake Eakin and Evan Savoie walk around as free men— something Craig will never do. Craig’s Birthday was 5 days ago. He would have been 31. We will never know all the amazing things he could have accomplished with his deep curiosities and radiant smile. It’s hard to understand how anyone could look at Craig and see anything but pure innocence and joy. It’s hard to understand why anyone would want to s***f such a bright light.
