Spirit Lake Public Library

Spirit Lake Public Library The library is open from 9-6 on Monday through Thursday, 9-4 on Friday, and 9-2 on Saturday. Curbside pickup is available. Come check us out!!

We offer many great services beside the ability to check out books. We have downloadable e-books, audio books, and videos. We also offer basic business services including a public computer lab, color or black and white printing, free Wi-Fi access, a fax machine, laminating, federal tax forms, and much more. Our library also maintains an historic newspaper database along with the Dickinson County Cemetery Index.

Starting in September we are doubling our Storytime and Block Party. Instead of one or the other on Thursdays we are moving to Storytime every Thursday at 10:30 am & Block Party will be set up every Friday at 10 am. Twice the activities all for the same low price of free. Hope to see you tomorrow for Storytime with Mr. Oscar!

Do you need to update your planner but could use a nice quiet space? Would setting up your planner be easier if you had somewhere to spread out? Come to our Plan, Prep & Create event in the SLPL community room 4:30-6:30. Spread out your planner and work in a quiet environment. Colored pencils and pages will be available if you need a break from the planning.

Welcome to September! We hope to see you stop in the library for some of our activities this week. Kicking things off is our Between the Shelves Challenge which just started yesterday September 1st and runs until the end of October. If you want your chance to get a $25 Black Earth Java gift card, stop by Black Earth Java or the SLPL to pick up your book prompts and start reading. Notice one of the prompts this time is "2 Books by the same author" so if you choose that one, you nee to read 2 books by one author which will count as 2 prompts putting you halfway to your goal.

The prize for the last challenge is being drawn, stay tuned for a winner announcement.

It's time for another fun fact for your weekend. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has gifted (as of this posting) 332,411,218 books to 3,197,250 children. According to the Imagination Library of Dickinson County, 554 of those children are from this area. The image below shows some of the titles over the years. My kids loved "I am a Rainbow." Summer break has come and gone
The kids returned to school
And with this will come a weather change
From hotter days to cool

But do not fear the autumn's call
Or the leaves that change their color
For many books have been returned
And our new books shelves are fuller!

So if you had a book you wanted
But could not find before
We have more books on our shelves
It's time to check once more
