Memorial Day Closure Notice

The Foothills Health District will be closed on Friday, May 22 and Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

As we spend time with family and friends this holiday weekend, we also pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

We will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26.

Due to low registration numbers, tomorrow’s QPR Su***de Prevention Training (Thursday, 5/14) has been canceled.

However, there is still time to register for our next FREE community QPR training on Monday, 5/18, at 5:30 PM! 💚

QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) teaches participants how to recognize warning signs of su***de, start supportive conversations, and connect someone with help. These simple skills can make a life-saving difference.

We hope you will join us Monday as we work together to build a stronger, more supportive community.

💚 You Could Save a Life. 💚

Foothills Health District in partnership with Partners and the Rutherford County Library is offering FREE community QPR Su***de Prevention Training.

QPR stands for:
❓ Question
💛 Persuade
🤝 Refer

Just like CPR helps save lives during a medical emergency, QPR helps everyday people recognize the warning signs of su***de and connect someone to help before a crisis happens.

During this training, participants will learn:
✔️ Warning signs of su***de
✔️ How to start a supportive conversation
✔️ How to connect someone with resources and professional help

You do not have to be a mental health professional to make a difference. Parents, teachers, church members, coaches, friends, coworkers, and community members can all play an important role in su***de prevention.

🚨 Rabies Alert in Rutherford County 🚨

The first case of rabies in 2026 has been confirmed in Rutherford County after a groundhog in the Gilkey Township area tested positive. There have been no reported human exposures at this time.

🐾 What this means for you:

-Keep your pets up-to-date on rabies vaccinations
-Do not allow pets to roam freely—this increases their risk of exposure
-Watch for unusual behavior in animals, especially in the Gilkey Township area over the next several months

💉 Rabies Vaccination Reminder:

-Required for all dogs and cats starting at 4 months of age
-Booster at 12 months, then every 3 years

🐶 Low-cost vaccines are available through Rutherford County Animal Control:

-Monthly clinic: First Tuesday, 10 AM – 4 PM ($5 per animal)
-Beginning July 14: Monday–Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM ($10 per animal)
