Spicewood Fire and the rest of the South End Task Force (Spicewood Fire Rescue, Granite Shoals Fire, Marble Falls Fire Rescue, Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department, Horseshoe Bay Fire Department, and Sunrise Beach Fire Department) responded to Granite Shoals this afternoon for a grassfire.

Fire was contained to about 9.74 acres and initial indicators point towards a lightening strike. Just more proof that even with all this rain it is still incredibly dry out. Don't burn, we are under a burn ban, secure your trailer chains, and avoid any activity that can create sparks such as welding.

Y'all's rain dances worked! We've had SOME rain! 🎉 ......however, we are still BONE DRY and remain under a BURN BAN. Do NOT go and light off that burn pile because you saw a couple drops of rain. We don't need the next big Texas wildfire here in Spicewood.

Pedernales Fire Department Responds to Light Brush Alarm

Spicewood, Texas
August 23, 2026

At approximately 4:20 p.m., the Pedernales Fire Department responded to a smoke investigation near Lakehurst Road. The incident was upgraded to a Light Brush Alarm, bringing resources from Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Burnet County ESD 9 - Spicewood Fire Rescue, Travis County STAR Flight, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, the Travis County Sheriff's Office, and the Travis County Fire Marshals Office.

Crews initially faced access challenges because the fire was reported off Lakehurst Road. After locating the fire and establishing access, firefighters from multiple agencies contained it at 5:01 p.m. The fire burned an estimated one acre.

One recreational vehicle was destroyed, and an addition to one structure sustained significant damage. One dog was located inside the addition and brought out safely. No injuries were reported among the homeowner, firefighters, or other emergency personnel.

With hot temperatures expected throughout the next week, the Pedernales Fire Department urges residents to stay fire aware and use extra caution with any activity that could produce a spark or start a fire.

The Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
