With the culvert replacement that started today by Bayliffs funeral home on 117 we are asking all drivers to follow the road closed signs and appropriate detours.

For those that are not from the area and are heading east towards Lima take 117 to Wisher. Take a left on Kolter and then another left on Monfort that will put u back on 117. If coming west into town take a left on Monfort, right on Kolter and then a right on Wisher then back to 117 or go straight on Kolter to 66.

Sunset Dr is not a way around as the drive at the end of the road is a private drive. This project is expected to last 30 days

Thanks for the cooperation.

So it has come to my attention that there have been a few comments or concerns about no updates and as a result there is criticism of the SPD. So first off any information that would be crucial to the safety of the community or school would immediately be passed on. We have not received any further information to update. But as Chief Miller said the casings will be sent for analysis by BCI. Also any information we receive that is not critical for the safety of the community will not be passed on due to this being an on going investigation. There is a reason for this process and that is to not pass on information that suspects could use. If we do locate a suspect and interview them we want information we only know of and that only the suspect (s) would know and divulge during an interview. So we know we have the right suspect (s). I hope this clears any questions up that anyone might have. If not please call and we'll try to answer what we can but still not jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.

Update:

We have collected multiple casings on E 4th st. As of now we are still asking for anyone with any info or video footage to please reach out to us. The casings will be taken to BCI for further testing and possible fingerprints.

We are unsure what the gun shots were last night and have no further info. If someone caught something on their cameras or knows something please reach out. It was also brought to my attention about people feeling unsafe to bring their kids to school today. I Chief Kyle Miller will be out at the school to help ensure the safety of the kids.
