Spencerport American Legion Ferris Goodridge American Legion Post 330 was chartered on August 27, 1919. The post was named for Edward Ferris and Leo Goodridge. Pvt. Edward L.

We currently have over 500 members in our great Legion Family. These include our great veterans, the SAL and Auxiliary. The charter for Ferris Goodridge Post 330 is one of the original American Legion charters. It was signed on August 27, 1919. Post 330 began with twenty members with Ray Austin becaming the first commander. The Post was named for Edward Ferris of the 27th Army Division and Leo Goo

dridge of the 78th Army Division. Both men were natives of the Town of Ogden , and both were killed in action in World War I. Ferris entered the service on May 21, 1917. He was assigned to the 108th Regiment, Infantry Machine Gun Company. He was killed in action near St. Sauplet, France on October 17, 1918. He is buried in St. John's Cemetery in Spencerport, NY
Pvt. Leo Goodridge entered the service on September 17, 1917. He was assigned to Battery D, 309th Heavy Artillery, as a cannoneer. He was seriously wounded by shrapnel on September 30, 1918 near Norray, France. He was moved to a French hospital where he died on October 19, 1918. He is buried in Creekside Cemetery in Churchville, NY. Ironically, both men died within two days of each other.

A number of residents have reached out with questions about the possible new construction taking place in the Village of Spencerport between Texas BBQ and Rooted Studio. While plans for the space have been kept quiet for some time, I wanted to share what is actually happening there.

A local resident and business owner has generously funded the creation of a public garden for the community to enjoy. This concept plan reflects the vision for the peaceful new space that is now beginning to take shape.

I know the Mayor and Village Trustees are incredibly supportive of this project, and we at the Town are equally excited to see this beautiful addition come to life for our community.

We would like to thank everyone that came out to our Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. We want to give special thanks to the Spencerport School District's Music Department for their patriotic selections and all the communities organizations that participated. Another special shout out to Ray K***z who provided over 100 great photos of our Memorial Day festivities. Please visit his fb page for more photos. It's rare to have a community to show care and love for our veterans. From our Ferris Goodridge American Legion Family, Thank you.
