🇺🇸 250 Flags for America’s 250th 🇺🇸

⭐ Field of Honor – July 3, 2026 ⭐

Hey y’all,

As part of Spencer’s Freedom Fest 250 celebration, the Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum will be creating a Field of Honor on the lawn of the Old Courthouse.

We are placing 250 American flags in recognition of America’s 250th birthday and to honor the veterans, active military members, first responders, and loved ones who have made a difference in our lives and communities.

Each flag is $1, and you may sponsor as many flags as you would like in honor of the people you wish to recognize.

To participate, simply stop by the museum and provide the name (or names) of the person you would like to honor along with your donation.

📍 Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum
179 Veteran Square, Spencer, TN 38585

🕙 The museum will be open:
• Friday, June 20th
• 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The Field of Honor will be displayed on the Old Courthouse lawn during Freedom Fest on July 3rd.

💻 We are currently working on a way for people to make donations remotely. Until that is available, donations and honoree information may be submitted in person at the museum.

Help us fill the courthouse lawn with 250 flags for America’s 250th and honor those who have served, sacrificed, and made a difference in our lives. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Hey y’all,

We’re excited to be part of Spencer’s upcoming Freedom Fest 250 celebration on July 3rd!

The Van Buren County Historical & Heritage Museum will open at 4 PM and remain open throughout the evening’s festivities, and we’d love for folks to stop by the old courthouse and spend a little time with the history of our county.

We’ll be offering guided museum tours during the event, along with something special we’re currently working on, a Field of Honor that will be displayed on the courthouse lawn in recognition of veterans and loved ones who served.

Soon, we’ll be sharing more information for anyone who would like to participate by purchasing one or multiple small American flags for $1 each in honor of a family member, friend, or loved one who served our country. Every flag will help form this community tribute of remembrance and appreciation. 🇺🇸

There’ll be food, festivities, live music from Cody McCarver, fireworks, museum tours, children’s activities, and a chance to come together as a community.

If you’re out enjoying the evening, come see us. History’s still alive on the square.

Hey y’all 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Freedom, community, small towns, courthouse squares, family stories… none of it comes without a cost. Memorial Day is a reminder of that.

Here at the old courthouse, where so much of Van Buren County’s story lives on, we’re mindful that many of those stories are tied to service, sacrifice, and the people who never made it back home.

Today, we remember. We honor. We give thanks. ❤️🤍💙
