Looking for a fun and free after-school activity? We are back on for story time this Thursday at 3:00! This week, we will be celebrating what makes each of our young learners special and unique. We have a fun picture book to introduce the topic, followed by an activity/coloring page each child can personalize.

Keep an eye out for a special event calendar we will posting this week, which will provide a schedule for all upcoming story times and other events.

Looking for a way to connect with your community and discover new books? Consider joining the upcoming adult book club- Booked at Burritt! The first meet will be held here at the library next Monday (August 24th) at 12:00 pm. Just show up to join! New members can meet, socialize, and discuss plans and ideas for the club. Please note that this club is open to anyone ages 18 and up.

Attention TN Promise Scholarship Students: Did you know you can fulfill your community service hour requirements here at Burritt Memorial Library?

We have lots of community service opportunities available such as:

-Helping our director prepare/set up/run upcoming library events
-Tending our library garden beds
-Creating an updated website for the library (you can work on this one at home!)
-Shelving and cleaning in the library
-Assisting the director in miscellaneous tasks around the library

To connect with our director about completing your community service hours at the library, stop in during our operating hours, message our page, or call Naomi during operating hours at 931-946-2575.

Good morning! Just posting a quick reminder that we will NOT have children's story time today due to staff meetings. However, we are opened today, so you can still come in and check out books! Story time will resume regular scheduling next Thursday. Stay tuned over the next few days for some announcements regarding library events!

Calling all local young artists- we need your help to add life and beauty to our library!

Our Color the Community program offers local youth an opportunity to participate in creating a mural to be displayed here at Burritt Memorial Library. Here's how it works:

Stop by during our operating hours anytime between August 12th-September 14th to be assigned a landmark or business within the community to draw, paint, or color at home. After each child's portion is turned in, the pieces will be put together to make a creative representation of our beautiful county. Here's the best part- after our mural is complete, we will be hosting an art gallery night to unveil our mural, celebrate the hard work of our participants, and award prizes!

Families, please encourage your children to participate and make their creative mark on the place we call home! This program is open to children ages 0-17.

This week's story time event is for all of our dinosaur lovers! Join us Thursday, August 6th at 3:00 PM for activities, craft time, and a roaring good story.

Side note- as our weekly story time event is rapidly growing in attendance, adult seating can be limited. While we do have some seating, feel free to bring an extra chair if you want to ensure a non-standing spot.
