Residents of Roane County holding a valid driver's license are eligible to recycle up to 10 tires on May 16th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, provided that only passenger and light truck tires are accepted, and all tires must be rim-free. Tractor tires are not accepted.

The Roane County Solid Waste Authority is currently seeking a part-time Recycling Processor to join its team. This role plays a crucial part in waste management operations and offers competitive compensation ranging from $12.50 to $15.50 per hour, with consistent weekly work averaging 25 hours. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a valid driver's license and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check. Physical fitness is vital for this role, which involves demanding tasks such as bending, lifting, and squatting while unloading recycling trailers. Employees will also be required to participate in monthly Saturday tire collection events, receiving additional shift differential compensation. This position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental sustainability. Spring Clean Up

The spring clean-up will occur on April 17 and 18, at the Recycling Center.

Friday April 17 from 8:00 – 5:00
Saturday from 8:00 – 2:00

Volunteers are needed, if you can join us either day, please send a Facebook Message so we can put you on a list.

This is open to all Roane County residents (NO COMMERICAL)
Dumpsters will be available for those unwanted items that cannot be recycled.

Tires are permitted, NO tractor tires, only light truck and passenger tires. 10 tires limit must be off the rims, must have a valid West Virginia driver's license.

Old appliances, scrap metal is acceptable.

Old batteries
Old Mattress/Box Springs

We cannot accept: Liquid paints and chemicals, Hazardous waste, Asbestos, Yard Waste.

Weather permitting, the Roane County Tire Recycling Event will be held on Febuary 21, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, providing residents with a convenient opportunity to responsibly dispose of their used tires.
To ensure a smooth and efficient collection process, we have established the following guidelines for all participants:
- Each Roane County resident with a valid county license is permitted to dispose of up to 10 tires during this event.
- We will exclusively accept light truck and passenger vehicle tires to facilitate proper recycling.
- Please note that tires mounted on rims will not be accepted under any circumstances. All tires must be removed from their rims prior to submission.
Our goal is to promote environmental sustainability and provide a convenient tire disposal service for our community members. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines and helping us maintain an organized recycling event.
