Today Oklahoma County Deputies are attending their annual Taser re-certification class. The class is a mixture of classroom lecture and hands-on training.
Deputies will receive technical updates from Taser, information on recent legal matters pertaining to the use of the Taser, and any new best practices.
Once the lecture portion of the class has concluded, the Deputies will participate in several scenarios. These scenarios help hone the Deputies’ decision-making process, helping them to decide when it is appropriate and reasonable to deploy the Taser in real-life. Effective communication skills supplemented by the use of these less-lethal tools allow the Deputy to perform their duties with professionalism, helping to ensure the Public and the Deputy are safe from unnecessary physical harm.
