🚨Great training Thursday night on Air Medical Operations with the MercyOne Air Med flight crew based in Mason City! 🚁

We were glad to be joined by our area partners from Dickens Fire & Rescue, Fostoria Fire-Rescue, Webb Fire-Rescue, Clay County Sheriff's Office, Spencer Hospital, and Spencer Police Department. Opportunities like this give us the chance to train together, and be better prepared to serve our communities when it matters most.

Thank You to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for providing the training and to Spencer Community Schools for allowing us to use Lincoln Elementary School!

Spencer Fire-Rescue is proud to continue our annual tradition of supporting Breast Cancer Awareness with our 2026 shirts!

Each October, our members proudly wear pink in recognition of those who have battled breast cancer, those currently fighting, the survivors, and the families and friends who have been impacted along the way.

Best of all, 100% of the proceeds stay right here in Spencer and will be donated to the Abben Cancer Center, helping support cancer care in our local community. 💗

After 33 Years of dedicated service, Safety Officer Keith Johnson is retiring from Spencer Fire - Rescue
Throughout his career, he served as an Asst. Fire Chief, Instructor, trusted mentor, and dependable member of our department. His trustworthiness, mechanical ability, experience, and commitment to helping others made him an invaluable part of our fire service family.
We sincerely thank him for his many years of commitment and sacrifice to our department and community. He will be greatly missed.
Congratulations on a well-earned retirement!!!

🚒 PROMOTION ANNOUNCEMENT – FIRE ENGINEER 🚒
Spencer Fire-Rescue is proud to announce the promotion of Chris Ingledue to Fire Engineer!

Over the past year, Chris has made a significant commitment to challenging himself and developing the knowledge and skills necessary to take on greater responsibility within our department.
Chris earned his National Driver/Operator Certification, completing extensive classroom education, hands-on skills preparation, and state practical and written examinations. He also completed his EMT education and successfully passed the National Registry EMT examination on his first attempt.

At Spencer Fire-Rescue, the black helmet represents more than a position or title, it represents something earned. It is a visual symbol of the time, sacrifice, competency, and commitment required to step forward, challenge yourself, and prepare for greater responsibility.

Becoming a Fire Engineer means accepting the responsibility of safely operating our emergency apparatus and developing proficiency in the pumps, systems, and equipment our crews depend on during emergency operations. It requires initiative, continued learning, and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone to become better for your department and the community you serve.

Chris chose to take on that challenge, put in the work, and demonstrate his readiness for the responsibility.
